During summer there's a lot to do in Katwijk, such as the weekly tourist market, the rescue demonstration, activities for children, various music festivals and sports.
Katwijk is the perfect base for visiting one of the many surrounding cities in the Randstad. Leiden is 8 kilometers away. Leiden is a student city with a rich history. A visit to one of the many museums is worthwhile, as is a boat trip through the canals. Leids Ontzet is celebrated on 3 October. After a visit to the city and / or a museum you will return in a relaxed environment and you can enjoy a drink or dinner at the beach with a beautiful sunset.

Our region is ideal for making beautiful bike and / or walking tours. On the south side is the dune area 'Berkheide' and in the north you will find the 'Coepelduinen'. These areas have extensive cycling and hiking trails. There are also several MTB routes in the area.

On the beach you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner in one of the many (year-round) beach pavilions. There are also plenty of options for renting surf or supboards, and you can also follow various workshops. A walk on the beach is different in every season. North is Noordwijk via beach or dunes 4 kilometers away. South Wassenaar is 7 km away and Scheveningen is 13 km from Katwijk.
The Keukenhof in Lisse is a park where more than 7 million flower bulbs are planted each year. It guarantees a wonderful day out. It is Europe's most beautiful garden and is a 15-minute drive from Katwijk. The park is open from mid-March to mid-May.

Visit websiteThe flower parade of the Bollenstreek is the highlight of the spring when all flower fields are in bloom. It is a parade of more than 50 decorated cars from Noordwijk to Haarlem. From the end of March until the beginning of May (depending on the weather) the daffodils, hyacinths and tulips are in full bloom in our region. A bike ride along these beautiful flower fields you must certainly have made.
